H is for Halloween

Today is Halloween. We colored pictures of pumpkins, and then played. Liana was having trouble deciding what to play with, so I dressed a bear up, she was much happier after that. We had circle time sort of. I made Oobleck again and this time I made it right. All liked it but Ty;and then watched a movie, Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin Patch and a School House Rock about Bones. They eat cookies, I had made, while watching. The costumes were the best. IT was fun to have everyone come that could come; Sorry Jordan couldn’t be here we all missed him.

Week 8
H is for Hats of occupation

Today I dressed up in all of my hats I own. There were baseball hats, train conductors, chef, bonnet, cowboy, helmet, and a snow hat. I only had four kids today so it was fun. They colored a huge sheet of paper and then I made it into a three cornered hat and wrote what they wanted to be when they grew up. They played for awhile then circle time. I had two books on career day and then I showed them all of the hats I had and told what kind of thing you do with them. I ask them all if they want to wear one, so they did. We went outside to play construction workers with blocks, but mostly they just wanted to run around. I played with the blocks while they played. Came in and had snacks.

G is for Gross things and Green Oobleck
Today the 24th of October we started with free play. We all played until 15 to 10:00. We then had circle time. I read the story Bartholomew and the Oobleck. And we also sang I have two eyes. We talked about our eyes, ears, hands and feet; and how important they are to experience life.
I had all the children come to the table while they watched me make Oobleck. I made it wrong but they still had fun mixing it with other gross things I had mixed together; Oatmeal and a mixture of Sand, leaves, and wood chips. The kids all got spoons and a bowl to mix what they wanted. I cleaned up that mess so we could do some finger painting. Any of you ladies are welcome to use the paint I have. They all asked for some colors and then mixed them all together before painting. They all painted and when they were done they could go play for awhile; while I cleaned up the paint mess. We then had snack time. And the day was done.

Week 7
G is for Green and growing
Today the 22 of October, The children arrived and sat down to outlined some G’s on Green paper with food from the grain food group. I prepared different types of noodles, rice and some cheerios for the cereal type of grain. Some just dumped the rice on and others really were patient in placing each noodle. They looked great.
Next was circle time. I read a few stories I had found on the updated form of the food pyramid.  The kids really like the pictures and talking about all of the foods they liked. They were a little rowdy. I need to place their mate d down on the floor myself.
We had talked about exercise; we then traveled outside to play some games; Red light green light and Simon Says. The kids were tired so we went in. We did snack a little early. While they started their snacks I read Green eggs and ham. Then I made some green eggs for all who wanted to try. Ty didn’t want any and Jordan at first didn’t but he decided to try one bit and liked it so he wanted more. Amanda Gray provided the food coloring because her child is not allowed to have any artificial food coloring so she found food coloring that is natural.
During the free time to play some of the kids really liked the doctor’s kit, it was a hit. The children still haven’t found all the other cool things to play with at my house.

F for Fall or Falling
Today is 10/17, to start off the day we started at the table doing some leaf rubbing. Some of the kids got the idea others just colored with the crayons. I did make sure the kids all had a leaf rubbed on their paper. Liana even wrote her own name by herself. The kids then all played for a while and then had circle time followed by the lesson right after. Read a book about falling leaves and Henny Penny. We talked about gravity and autumn. I said gravity is a force and Xander said “Like in Star War and the force.”
I had the kids show me how a leaf falls to the ground. We even danced like leaves. They made a great pile of leaves. Then we went outside to do a gravity activity. I had asked all the mothers if they would bring rotten or things to drop from a great height. The activity was dropping things from one story high. The kids had a great time doing this; I even had them pour water down. We gathered everything up and we went back in for snack time.
